Saturday, March 31 & Sunday, April 1

High Sunday Brunch, April 8: Reservations by April 4. Celebrate Eastertide at a festive brunch in the Parish Hall on April 8 following the 10:45 a.m. service. The fare will be shrimp and grits and breakfast casserole with sides of asparagus, fresh fruit and biscuits, child-friendly foods, and a dessert table, in a setting of live music: $10/adults and youth 13 and older, $5/children 6-12, $35/household maximum, higher prices on April 8. Easter Giving of Time, Talent, and Treasures. In concert with presence for worship and formation, serving through in-reach and outreach, and volunteerism with ministries and programs, pledges and contributions also are vital. All financial giving benefits current year operations, programs, administration, and outreach. The 2018 Annual Fund goal is $1,000,000; as of mid-March, approximately $930,000 in pledges were committed. Prayerfully consider making a first-time pledge, increasing your current pledge, or making a one-time contribution. The initially-scheduled Easter “Quiet Day” Retreat that was scheduled to be held on Saturday, April 14 will not be offered.  The next retreat will be offered in Pentecost. Please stay tuned for additional details and announcements.

Worship and Music

Easter Flowers and Music Gifts. Special contributions in memory or honor of loved ones are still possible to fund the beautiful flowers and glorious music for Eastertide observances. Envelopes are available in the public spaces at St. Peter’s; indicate “Easter Flowers and Music” on checks. Sunday Evenings at St. Peter’s. At 5:00 p.m., on most second and fourth Sundays, we offer the service of Choral Evensong with Holy Eucharist: Evening Prayer with Holy Eucharist, April 8; Choral Evensong with Holy Eucharist, April 22. On every third Sunday, a contemplative Holy Eucharist is offered, patterned after the Taizé, France community; includes music for piano, moments for silence, and candle-lighting as a prayer form; the next will be April 15. Invitation to Households with Children: Discover The Choir School. On Sunday, April 22, St. Peter’s households with children are invited to a special opportunity to experience the Choir School. The Boys and Girls Tour Choirs will sing for the 10:45 a.m. service. After the service, prospective choristers and their families are invited to lunch in the Parish Hall, followed by an opportunity to do some singing with the Tour Choirs, and an informational meeting for parents. Sunday Parish Hall Forum, 9:30 a.m. All adults are invited to presentations offered by the parish clergy, lay leaders, and guests: April 1, Easter Day, formation classes suspended; April 8, An Easter Conversation with the Clergy; April 15, Reflecting on Current Events. Monday Night Bible Study: Last Class & New Class. April 9 marks the start of a new weekly class facilitated by John Frederick and Ruth Woodend, 6:30–8:00 p.m., using Invitation to the New Testament, a $12.00 resource book. Catechesis Solemn Communion Retreat for Children, April 22. All children are invited to join Director of Children’s Formation, Anna Hurdle, Atria Catechists, and Parish Clergy in exploring the sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Baptism, and Holy Eucharist on Saturday, April 22, 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s. This annual experience is designed for children ages seven and older. The $20 suggested registration fee includes lunch and snacks. Parents should contact Anna Hurdle (ahurdle@st-peters.org) to register by Sunday, April 15.

Women’s Eastertide Retreat with St. Martin’s Charlotte, April 20–22. All women of St. Peter’s are invited to “Caregiving, Caregivers, and Faith,” an Eastertide retreat in collaboration with St. Martin’s Charlotte, at Valle Crucis Episcopal Conference Center in Western North Carolina. The Parish Offices will be closed April 2-3. and re-open on Wednesday, April 4. For any hospital or pastoral emergencies concerning a member, or facilities management emergency matters, contact the Clergy On Call at 704-749-6175 for assistance.

Pub Theology, April 12. On Second Thursdays through May, 5:30–7:00 p.m., Pub Theology is hosted by a member of the parish clergy. On April 12, the Reverend Jacob E. Pierce, Associate Rector, will facilitate “Encountering the Resurrected Christ” at Sir Edmond Halley’s Restaurant and Freehouse in Park Road Shopping Center. Pub snacks and both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase at these casual, drop-in, holy conversation events.

Newcomers’ Coffee, Sunday, April 15. All who are new (or new-ish) to the parish and want to get acquainted with other newcomers, members, and the clergy are invited to a time of fellowship and community-building in the Par¬lor from 9:30–10:30 am. Chronic Care Support Group. The next gathering of this first-Friday group will be April 6, 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Keith Lane and others facilitate this fellowship for persons with chronic illnesses of any sort and caregivers alike. Outreach and Social Justice

Volunteer through Servant Ministry Partners. The parish has a long custom of partnering with community social service agencies whose programs benefit the welfare of our neighbors. Loaves and Fishes Collections at St. Peter’s. Our Servant Ministry Partner benefits from non-perishable donations to the big red barrels located adjacent to the entrance to the Chapel.
