Financial Facts from 2017 about Life at St. Peter’s.
In 2017, annual pledge amounts ranged from $5 to $56,000. The median 2017 annual pledge from a majority of individuals and households was $2,652. For 2018, if a majority of individuals and households pledged at least $3,500/year, sufficient monies would be available for the Vestry (elected lay leadership council) in collaboration with Finance and Stewardship Committee to fully fund the expenses associated with parish worship, in-reach and outreach initiatives, formation programs for adults, youth, and children, music, staff and clergy, operations and administration, and the care of sacred facilities of St. Peter’s Church.
An increase in the number of pledges offered and each pledge amount would ensure our ability to fund certain expenses, such as our 11% operating budget annual pledge to the diocese ($119,735); the 8.5% mandatory health insurance increase for clergy and staff; HVAC maintenance for the church and Parish House; allowances for staff and clergy cost-of-living-adjustment or merit increases; at least $10,000 dedicated to the operating budget for outreach and social justice ministries (in addition to the annual $50,000 grant to the parish from St. Peter’s Endowment to support parish grants awarded to community agencies); and a dedicated communications staff person to meet the internal and external needs linked to parish community and growth.
In order to have an essential budget for 2018, a minimum of $1,000,000 in pledges is needed by Commitment Sunday, November 5. Everyone is asked to consider the 10% tithe* as a pledge goal (based on the table below) or to make an incremental increase to their 2017 pledge.
