Dear Members, Newcomers and Friends of St. Peter’s Church:

We are enthusiastic to invite your involvement in Support Life at St. Peter’s: Pledge 2017. This annual fund-raising campaign will empower individuals and households associated with our mission, ministry, and vision to join in the great ministry of giving.

The mission of God’s Church is to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ. St. Peter’s parish responds to this charge through the ministry of dedicated worship offerings, robust formation programs and events for children, youth, and adults, pastoral care of those who suffer or seek healing, and continual engagement of outreach and social justice initiatives committed to respecting the dignity of every human being. Our ministry commits to improve congregational development unique to an urban parish, provide fellowship offerings to deepen parish-wide community, and identify ways to better care for one another within and beyond our doors. Our ministry also is blessed with a world-renowned music program that feeds our souls on Sundays and many other occasions. Our vision is to become a community of bold followers of Jesus, a crowd that effects good change for the world, a place known for radical love and welcome, and a beacon of hope in Center City Charlotte. Your 2017 pledge will support the mission, ministry, and vision of life at St. Peter’s in extraordinary ways that will bring more blessings to you and this world.

In order for the Vestry and Treasurer to have an adequate budget to fund the variety of expenses associated with the worship, outreach, year-round programs and events, staff, clergy, administration, and facilities and building maintenance of St. Peter’s, a minimum of $975,000 in pledges is needed by Sunday, November 6, Commitment Sunday. Your support will enable our Clergy and Staff to foster an even richer parish life and care for our sacred, historic, and necessary presence in Center City Charlotte.

For 2017, a 10% tithe is the pledge goal to which individuals and households are called. The “Financial Facts from 2016 about Life at St. Peter’s” page will explain more about this goal, including what impact can come from such giving, and more specific financial information may be requested from the Treasurer.

You can pledge online now at On November 6, Commitment Sunday, your online or paper-form pledge to support life at St. Peter’s will be consecrated with the bread and wine at the Holy Eucharist. There is power in community and in the ministry of giving, which we prayerfully hope you will join.

In faith and with deep gratitude for our life at St. Peter’s,

Irma Hoffman, Senior Warden

The Rev. Ollie V. Rencher,  Rector
