Programs for Youth Begin New Term

holtI look forward to the beginning of each new “school year” because it offers the chance to start anew; to push the reset button. The beginning of a new year in our Journey to Adulthood program offers our youth that gift as well. Each of the three groups begins a year of new lessons with volunteer leaders who guide them in ways to be whole and holy as they navigate the ever-changing, often difficult teen years. The Journey to Adulthood program provides a comprehensive curriculum to equip teens to become spiritual, loving, and thoughtful adults.

A hallmark of this program comes after five years of meeting weekly, doing outreach, putting down strong roots in the St. Peter’s community, and finding their place as spiritual beings in the world. This culminating event is Holy Pilgrimage.

The Pilgrim Class of 2015 will make their pilgrimage to Spain, where they will visit the spiritual and religious places of Madrid, Toledo, Avila, and Granada, after having studied extensively throughout the year. This class of fourteen with their leaders have made their pilgrimage possible through personal and family sacrifice, and through the generosity of the parish. One of the things for which the pilgrims and leaders are so grateful is the continuous financial, physical, and prayerful support.

Your support and presence is requested at our 4th Annual “Shrimp and Suds” Fellowship Dinner on Saturday, September 27, at 6:30 p.m. on the rooftop of St. Peter’s Parish House. This fundraiser is open to all adults in the parish and features a cooked-on-site Low Country Boil of shrimp, corn on the cob, potatoes, and andouille sausage. Sides include coleslaw, French bread, cheese grits, and peach cobbler. All items will be served with a choice of local brews, wine, or iced tea. The cost for this all-you-can-eat event is $35. This event is the first of three upcoming fund raisers: our yard sale (October 3 and 4) and the Advent Fair. Click here to make your reservation for the Shrimp and Suds Dinner. Thank you, again, for your support.
